I have just bought in Asda a stainless steel slow cooker with removable ceramic pot with glass lid for £7.00. (was £15.00 on Saturday)

There were two pallets of them so I imagine the deal will be around for a while.

I'm thinking stew and dumplings, sausage hot pot, winter soup

    any more ideas?

    :D

Ah well, the way I see it was it was good while it lasted. A bit like Tesco R&R (refund and retain) where you got a refund if they charged you more and you got to keep the product for free. We were gutted when that finished, but we moved on to couponning, or a lot of us did.

I posted about a month ago to say that we were actually committing fraud by doing this as there are clear comments on 99.9% of coupons to say to only redeem against the product. OK, so Tesco were committing fraud too and the manufacturers were unlikely to take us all to court, but even so, we were obtaining goods by deception, defined in the Theft Act of 1978 as a person who by any deception dishonestly obtains goods or services from another shall be guilty of an offence.

We knew we shouldn't be doing it, if we put our hands on our hearts, because in most cases we weren't buying the product, so we were de-frauding the manufacturer (albeit with Tesco's complicity) who was prepared to lay out that discount so people would try their product and we weren't trying their product. So I think we just say c'est la vie and move on and as others have said let's still keep a look out for great coupons like Finish etc., in future.

I don't think we can blame Tesco really - it's a common sense business decision - let's face it, would you want all that hassle of handling 1000s
of coupons? I think things will just revert to normal market forces in a while. So that people who it's handy for / like it / collect points etc., will carry on and those that prefer elsewhere, because it's cheaper / more convenient etc., will shop elsewhere.

Got a phone call from T's today (well a voicemail actually) regarding my email about the JK Rowling book and my threat to take legal action. This woman was babbling on and on about how they had no more books left and were unable to order more to meet the supply and how sorry she was and how extremely disappointed I must be blah blah blah. Anyhoo, she said at the end that they would still give me the 200 extra points. Suits Mad fine, didn't want the poxy book in the first place.....just the points :)

Me too - so well worth emailing to let them know you're less than chuffed if you've had your order cancelled. It seems strange that they should take the trouble to telephone, so I suspect they must be on the defensive...
Today I shopped at Waitrose and used just 3 coupons including the Sun conditional spend one and got a huge chocolate birthday cake, 13 packs of their lovely free range sausages, 5 loaves (no fishes Bully) and some milk all for £23, as everything was marked down. They do great bargains at the end of the day and the staff are so pleasant. Well worth a look.
Would also just like to thank Gill for the lovely freebie links she has been posting.
Finally I should perhaps state here for the record that I am a country bumpkin and quite possibly a bit backwards ;)
