Hi.

I just had to put in my 5.00 emergency credit. Then it says seconds after doing that the charge already is 2.00. Is this correct. It a Key meter with British Gas.

I can't remember what the thing says when putting in Emergency apart from the bleeping.

This usually happens if it has clicked over into the emergency overnight. The key meters, or at least mine, don't let the electric go off after 6, so will accrue arrears which is then taken off when you put your key in. this is especially the case if you are paying back a debt with the prepayment meter.

Dont worry, the £2.00 is the minimum amount you need to put into the meter to get it out of emergency. The screen should also be showing you the amount of emergency credit available....as this goes down the amount needed to get the meter out of emergency will increase.
