I`ve got one and I wouldn`t buy one again0

i asked my local greengrocer for one of the bags that they get the loose potatoes delivered in. It's thick paper & no light gets in. I keep it under the stairs. My potatoes do still sprout but I haven't had any go mouldly on me.
Best of all he gave it to me for free!Work to travel, don't travel to work!0 -
I've got a lakeland bag too and I think it is a waste of money. You're better off just using a dark sack or paper bag!0

I use a cardboard box, its the same principe I think that they are dry and in the dark. - Stored in our entry, its dark, cool and dry
They still sprout quickly though, I'm ashamed to say, we feed the compost0 -
I got a betterware one and yep still sprouty potatoes for me too...I would say dont bother.... Sounds loke the best thing for the job is the tesco bag!!**Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened!**

Some people suggest putting an apple in with the potatoes to keep them fresher!0

When I need one or two I just ask at the local chippy, they're always happy to give them away. Nice thick double layer of brown paper. If it's good enough for the chippy it's good enough for me ;-)0

I use an old wooden bread bin (its one of those like a box with a lid on) keeps them cool and dark, and never get any sprouting!0

I made one from two large wilkies cheapo tea towels 100%cotton at 29 pence each( that I use as dish cloths) sew up three sides and just twist the top and put a laggy band around top.
I put my spuds in this and they keep fine in the bottom of the fridge, I have had them for 3 weeks in there and if I *know* I won't be eating them too quickly I also put in the odd sheet or two of kitchen roll in to absorb any extra moisture, so far I am more than happy with my home made goody spuddy bag!
A pillow case would be just as good if it is 100% cotton of course ( look for odd ones in the charity shops!)0
