Dorment Bank a/c (Germany)

Hi all i use to live in Germany as a young child with my father he had a current a/c which he has no details of any more. We contacted the bank 2009 and they told us they no longer had the details on record as its over 10yrs ago. Can any one help or offer any advice on how we can retrive this money.

Many Thanks BB

Depends on how Germany works in this regard.

I would suggest, if no-one pops along with specifics, that you contact the bank again and ask them what happens to unused accounts, and if there is a national mechanism in place for reclaiming any funds, akin to what the UK has.

  • Thanks i did ask the qestion but i found the bank not to be very helpful maybe my german or their english. Hopefully someone here will have more specifics failing that i will ask again
