    hamish....answer the questions
It is nice to see the value of your house going up'' Why ?
Unless you are planning to sell up and not live anywhere, I can;t see the advantage.
If you are planning to upsize the new house will cost more.
If you are planning to downsize your new house will cost more than it should
If you are trying to buy your first house its almost impossible.

2 big trips overseas and buying a 3k mountain bike), just to show that neither am I living on bread and gruel to achieve this........ anything else Hamish ?

We've started to relax a litle more this year. DH has got his LR (not new, but restored and makes your bike look like bargain. and DH has told me I should by a trailer for the dobbins when I see one I like (its typically me not him who is stingey and has set a tightish budget for this.). we still budget, though, and I wouldn't hesitate to put us both on gruel if we needed to to make our savings targets.

Well, I can answer this. I've just done my monthly accounts for September. The answer is: No

I've earnt £33/day this month, then I deduct the cost of that (hosting, bandwidth, domain names, etc etc) and it works out that I can "pay" myself £27.77/day.

For the hours I've put in this month, that's an hourly rate of £2.30/hour.

... I might not have money, but I'm free :)
Not caged by the drudgery of a relentless job.

But, do you know what hurts ...?
I actually have to pay tax on 1/3rd of that :(

Oh Hamish, this is getting tedious. At best the market has stagnated.

    Ah, I see.

So the Nationwide index, the RICS surveys, Hometrack, etc etc etc, are all fabricated.

All part of a big VI ramping effort.

Prices have not risen by £12,500 and 8.5% since February, prices are not rising in most of the UK. Prices are in fact falling in more than the 1% of local districts reported.

    It's all a big conspiracy.

You know that would actually be funny, I'd love to meet this guy in real life, in my mind he looks like the guy on the side of a bottle of Irn Bru.

Reminds me of someone who was bullied at school and now is wreaking havoc after going on a clueless about computers course.

My favourite song on the Demanufacture album was 'Self Bias Resistor' which I believe was track two on the CD. I was a teenager at the time and my poor old, lovely Mum used to let me play the album in the car when she was driving me around. There's a bit where the music stops quite early in the song and Burton C. Bell sings 'machines of hate'. My Mum used to annoy me (although looking back now I find it really funny) by singing things that rhymed with it, such as:

    "The milkman is late"
    "Chips on a plate"
    "Nice village fete"
    "Let's go on a date"

Probably my most random post ever on here, but your username reminded me of my Mum and it made me smile. It's at around 1.02 on this video if anyone cares, just before the operatic metal bit (brilliant).

    Thats sweet, I like it.

DH admitted to loving a certain song that came on the radio saturday before last and I tried to convince him it is horrid by turning it into a DFS advert. He says I ruined it for him utterly.:o but he was laughuing so hard he almost drove of the road. (its such a terrible tune I won't name it.)
