Reasonable time for paint work to last

My car door was resprayed back in September 2008 and after a recent trip through the car wash I've noticed that 2 small patches of the top layer of paint has come away. The car was being repaired following a collision and so went to an insurer approved garage which is some 20 miles from where I live. As this is an hour round trip I haven't yet had time to take it back so I just need some idea of how long such a guarantee may last before I'm on my own?

I don't know what guarantee you were given - but I would certainly be having a hissy fit if a paint job like this started breaking down after a year. It won't get any better and you'll probably find a lot more starts peeling away now its started. I would report it to the insurers and also go back to the people who did the job asap.ELITE 5:2
