Floating shelves

I saw this article in the paper at the weekend http://www.guardian.co.uk/weekend/story/0,,1772665,00.html and have had a look at the brackets it refers to http://www.sdslondon.co.uk/products.php?parent_id=244

The article refers to the T-shaped brackets, but the other ones look like they might allow for a bit of adjustment, to compensate for slight non-alignment of drill holes – but it’s not entirely clear.

Has anyone else got any experience of using these?

I’m looking to knock up a couple of chunky radiator shelves, about 40-50mm thick. Which ones do you reckon I should go for, and what kind of spacing would I need (how many brackets per linear metre)?

Cheers all.
