Shower drips/trickles constantly

I have an electric shower which was there when I moved in two years ago.
Lately it has started dripping. The dripping (which was very slow before) has progressed to a steady trickle. Is there anything I can do bar calling a plumber as money is tight at the moment?
It is wasting rather a lot of water which is obviously not good in the current situation, I am trying to catch most of it to water plants etc but it would be better if it wasn't happening at all!
Many thanks in advance!

Hi,
Try turning off the electric, normally shuts down valve completely.

Sounds like it could be as simple as needing a new washer.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. I will try the electric thing tonight as that's easy enough!
But I have NO idea how to replace a washer on an electric shower...?0 -
is it coming out of either end of the hose? if so it is a warped or cracked washer. its about the size of a 20p piece. cost you about 50p from b&qTotal debt
April £75100
may £70595
target Pod aug 07
£2 savers club = £1820 -
Probably a stupid question. But exactly where will this washer be located on the shower? The shower head? Up near the actual body of the shower itself?
Do I need to turn off the water before I do this, presumably? The shower is fed from an immersion tank, so perhaps I should locate the valve for that and switch that off??0 -
Can't remember the exact details but my sister has an electric shower with an integral pump which had exactly the same problem. She called the manufacturer who advised her what the problem was and where she could buy the required part. I fitted the the part, basically a valve which performs the same function as the washer in a tap, and its been fine ever since. The part cost aound £10, although if I remember right it was little fiddly to fit.
So, suggest calling the manufacturer to start with.0
