Buying a desktop

Options
Hi,
I dont know if I have posted this in the right place.I have been given a price by local computer shop for a desktop of £177 for the following desktop HP DC 7100, pent 4, 80gb hard drive,2.8 processer and 1.5gb of ram and 2003 microsoft office. The price includes a moniter a mouse and a keyboard and a wireless care. We think it is a refurb one. Is this a good price and specifcation. :D

Any advice would be good Thanks

P.s It is for my 12 year old son who likes MSN and to surf the net and do homework.

You would have paid out the nose for that machine 3 years ago... It will do the job fine but it's hardly worth anything now, just the price someones willing to pay for it.

£177 is too much, another £73 and you could buy a new one!

The base unit is unimpressive - if the monitor is good and the copy of office is a full edition and genuine, it might be reasonable, but I would be tempted to look around carefully before going for this PC
