legitimate popups in Firefox

I am a heavy user of Firefox but I really am thinking of moving back to Opera and leave Firefox to when it will be better.
My main problem is with legitimate popups.
When I open a legitimate popup (like in autotrader for example) the popup tend to open very slowly sometime up to 25 seconds which make surfing in broadband feel more like dial up.
Some scripts for Greasemonkey claim to fix this but I get errors when I try to run these scripts. Another thing is that some pop ups coming up without the ability to resize them. I had to install an extension that does the resize but it is a very slow process to resize a popups every time.
My Opera on the other hand though not always compatible with every web site (common Nat West get your finger out) do give me a fast and smooth experience.
I looked everywhere for solution but to no avail. I suspect it is a Java issue but I am not sure. Any suggestions? (don’t tell me to use IE cause I won’t).
