Bails I hope everything goes well with the interview.
Blairw. congratulations on the placement. The dryers on freecycle are like gold dust. They work at about 2800rpm and I don't know of any washer that will do that,it would probably take off! Many things come out dry enough to iron.
    Whitewing nice to "see" you.
Cw glad your job is going well, it must be such a relief after the year you have had.

The curry was very good,a little hot for me when I tasted it but added a carton of single cream (woopsie) from the freezer and it smoothed out the taste a bit.

Got to go to bed now, late again. Goodnight all
  • Hi, nyk - please keep me on the list of challengers. I do not post very often, but I lurk every day! I have fallen off the wagon very much this year, but am back trying to budget again, and have been doing okay for a couple of weeks. Am working on next years budget, and will try and do better. Having said that, I have spent so much less this year than previous, and have taken a lot of the ideas on board, so on the whole I am pleased with my success.

Good morning and congratulations to Blairweech with offer (is this for the agricultural degree?) and Bails for your next stage towards nailing that job :D

You lot have chitter chattered so much since I last popped on here for an update, far too much for me to remember but I DO remember saying I wasn't doing anything with the list of challengees until nearer new year, so welcome newbies, stick around and I'll post a request for names in a few weeks so I can make a start on the new list. :D In the meantime, I'll add you to the old one and it'll be like virtual roll call soon. :rotfl:

We haven't been swept away by high tides, flood waters or gale force winds.:j No major damage done here other than the usual falling trees, leaky rooves and 'drookit' hens walking sideways because they were too silly to stay indoors yesterday. With any luck the rain will stay away long enough to get everything dried out as horizontal rain got into everything the past 2 nights. Off back out now to make the most of the interlude and will catch up on here soon. :)
I reserve the right not to spend.
The less I spend, the more I can afford.

    Morning,
I have a uni interview this morning and that's pretty much my day! I'm hoping for a no spend but I may need fuel.
2 of my children are out tonight so one of daughters asked if we cou get a takeaway, I considered it seriously but I've decided to make a lamb curry with savoury rice and chips. Just as unhealthy but without the cost!

blair well done, thats great news and I'm chuffed for you.

Hope you all have a good day.
  • Well done Blairweech you will love it

and well done frankie for resisting the dreaded takeaway ,we had one on monday as we had a chaotic 24 hrs and were both shattered(my DS was in a car accident on sunday evening on his way back to camp unhurt thankfully but needed recovering from motorway....................then i worried about him til i knew he was safe)

quiet day here today i have some beding plants to plant (less than half price from bandq) if it stops raining . Quite scarily they were taking delivery of fresh xmas trees while i was there !!

Having pasta for tea so nice and easy and got some more xmas prezzie wrapping to do.

    bye for now

I have a uni interview this morning

Good luck with your interview Frankie, what's it for?

Thanks for all the good wishes peeps; I am so grateful for all my friends on here, you really do mean a lot to me xx If I manage to get the job, I'm gong to buy you all a fizzy one of these  but you'll have to come to the Meet to get it ;) (I have no qualms about bribery :rotfl:)

My landlady has introduced us to Fring ( a free calling service) so I'm off to check out if it's any good... oh, and does anyone here have Amazon Vine? Just heard about it on another thread and if you write enough reviews you join this thing and you get free things like a food processor and books.

ETA: Oh Shaz, really sorry to hear about DS's accident, just glad he's okay! No wonder you were worried!

You've all been busy! Well done Blairw, and Bails, and good to hear your work is going so well CW. Good luck Frankie! Glad your DS is OK Shaz.

Still no news on the flat sale - potential buyer is 'thinking about it'. Grr. It's going up for rent tomorrow whether she's decided or not. H2B is thinking about doing a PhD so that's a bit scary financially - by the time he'd be starting I'd only have 18 months of employment left, so we could potentially be living off a PhD income for a little while.

I'm pretty tired as have ended up working 6 day weeks for the last two weeks, I'm really looking forward to a relaxing weekend!

Sorry for butting in SM and Grandma (feel free to tell me to butt out again!:D) but do you live that far away from each other? I just love seeing things find a new home instead of landfill... ;)

Sounds like you deserve a relaxing weekend Lynda! OH and I were considering living off a phD earlier this year, reckon it's doable...

Hope the flat can be sorted one way of the other soon x

Shaz I am glad your ds is ok I know how frightening it is. My ds and dil had a motorbike accident a couple of years ago and even though I knew they were okish (cracked bone for ds and sprained wrist for dil with bruising for both of them) I could not sleep that night and ended up chatting for a couple of hours with Aussie friend on the phone.
Lynda Maybe this is the time to start storing food and none food items, even if things work out ok at least you will have plenty in to save you money in the long run. A seperate fund for that time might also be a good idea.
