congratulations cw- hope the job goes real well ( and keep your eye out for those bargins)
I think you lot on here are really lovely people. You are all welcoming and extremely helpful. people and acts of kindness should mean more than money. More people in the world should be as nice then there wouldnt be so much trouble around, people have lost their sense of community spirit and neighbourlyness these days. Why spent it if you dont have to whilst achieving what you want in life ?sealed pot member no :0812011- £306.68 2012-£304.36 2013- £387.44 2014 - £441.43

CW well done on the job. The discount sounds good too.
Nyk I was not in any way suggesting the scots are mean. That rubbish sells papers for some reason but we rarely buy papers here.

This is the site I got the book from. You have to join but its free and they have books five days a week free plus a bonus book. Most of them may not be of use to you but now and again they do stuff for adults. Most of the books are old out of copyright ones but I find them interesting.0 -
With the added bonus I'll have a staff discount card for an additional 10% off them too
Woohoo you'll be quids in!
And with the hour that you finish you would be so nicely lined up for the best reductions that get hammered down at ours between 5.15 and 5.30. You could practically double your wages!:DAUGUST GROCERY CHALLENGE £115.93/ £250

So does that indicate I'm "tight fisted", or just prove I'm "canny with my pennies"Cheryl0 -
That's great news CW:T:T
As for national characteristics, aren't we English supposed to be terribly reserved, stiff upper lipped and wear bowler hats. I believe we are also world leaders in queueing.
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once0 -
Congratulations cheryl,
I'm really pleased for you. Re: the mean debate, I asked DH if he has ever seen any evidence of this whilst he was posted in Germany, as he didn't read any of the german papers or watch the TV.
I think that it is funny that anyone would think that the Scots are miserable as a race. Most of us are really generous people, especially Glaswegians.
I agree that there are no misers on this thread as we all share information and help one another.
I am going to admit that around 10 years ago, I would have laughed at someone who done any of the following things:
saved some of their wages.
shopped around for bargains.
shopped in primark or discount stores.
bought reduced items in the supermarket.
bought goods in bulk to save money.
made food from scratch and baked things.
did not eat out in fancy establishments.
did not wear the 'right gear'.
grew veg.....................and the list goes on.
Who does all of the above now? me:o
It's like this, who is right and who is wrong, I know what I think the answer is!
One last thought, is it mean spirited to leave a towel on a sunlounger at 5am in the morning when you are on holiday and the rest of the hotel is asleep? answers on a postcard please!!:rotfl:0 -
CW-Congratulations!! Fingers crossed for your son.
Nyk-Guess who has £30 of Threshers vouchers. How annoying..we were planning to spend them shortly too. Oh well.
