The main thing is knowing that it IS possible to live (not just survive) on a LOT less money than I would have believed possible a few years ago, even with the unexpected thrown at me :T :T :T
Congratulations Cheryl! Really enjoyed your 'journey' this year..just shows what organisation, guts, determination and a calculator brain can do! :rotfl:

Afternoon all,
Bails my thoughts are with you both.
Mooloo Glad you've had some extra sent your way, you deserve it.
We have DH's Gran here at the moment, till Tuesday, so I'm not around as much. I'm also feeling a bit unwell today, but pushing through.
Went to Tesco last night and spent the rest of our money on some top up food that should now see us through the New Year.
I'm hoping to get a lamb, half a pig and beef from the butcher in January so I'm running down the freezer for the space. Not sure how much it will cost or when I'll get it for but last time we did it, the meat was lovely and it lasted ages so while it'll be a bit hit at first it should even out.
We've had some snow here and unfortunately I had a bit of a slip last night in the car on the way to Tesco....mananged to take off some of the front bumper...opps!
Apart from that, we are drinking alcohol, playing monopoly, reading books and my son is making me fires.0 -

Just popped in quickly and will catch up later. We went to mt this lunchtime and bought some meats half price and then went in again at 3pm. I stayed while dh played taxi and I bagged 7 carrier bags of meat, pies and lots of other goodies including 2 turkeys at £12.50 each, they should have been £25. I will be busy later tonight canning and freezing to get it all put away. The freezers were already full before I went out shopping so I am going to see how far into next year I can get just spending as little as possible.0

Condolences to Bails & Mr Bails.
Best wishes to everyone, I hope all the preparations have gone to plan and that tomorrow is a big success. This frugal house is having roast chicken dinner done turkey style with all the trimmings. I've just put the custard onto the trifle, the clootie dumpling is boiled and now drying nicely in the oven, the chicken/stuffing/chipolattas are all cooked and ready and the soup is made. That should free up enough time tomorrow to visit DD & co to deliver the pressies IF the ice melts on the drive by then.
Time to relax for a bit now, watching reruns of Christmas 'Friends' now that the TV signal is back.I reserve the right not to spend.
The less I spend, the more I can afford.
