Good morning
It's cold but bright and sunny here, no snow yet. Kitchen heater is NOT working - there's a surprise - so called electricitian again to let him know all the same stuff I let the last ones know a year ago. I'm guessing that we're going to be forced into having a replacement when I don't even want another storage heater!
Going to do a reshuffle of stuff in the freezer so I know what's in there, what's needed for Christmas dinner and to make sure there's enough in for the parents coming to stay. I'll also need to go and sort out some kindling for the fire, as all the cut stuff has been used up already. That is one thing that NEEDS sorting, especially before the parents arrive, as they think nothing of throwing bucket upon bucket load of coal on the fire forgetting that it's now 575% more expensive than when they had their open fires, back in the days of logs being £10 a load and coal being less than £40 a ton.
Spent a few pounds in town yesterday, mainly fruit & veg and festive wants rather than needs but there's still enough left over for a turkey. No space in freezer to fit one at the moment, so it'll be a last minute dash for whatever I can get next week. Going to make a trifle and a clootie dumpling for deserts and have everything else I need in store.
Edited in - have now opened up the storage heater, as shown by electrician on Tuesday, and reset the faulty thermostat so the heater switches on tonight. I'm sure it only cuts out when the fire is lit on the opposite side of the wall.
HS just pointed out the heavy clouds and it's now looking like ot's going to try to snow here. There seems to be a band of something moving in on us from across the fields. Fingers crossed it isn't just miserab;e torrents of freezing cold rain.I reserve the right not to spend.
The less I spend, the more I can afford.

shaz - Sure the teacher will love the pressie, and at least she won't get another 5 the same lol, I am currently being swamped with lots of chocs, wine, baileys, smellies etc , most of which i will give away again as I won't really use personally, and been given flowers today( which I dont like in the house,I prefer them growing wild,)mum ususally ends up with these but is abroad tomorrow so will find another recipient for those:rolleyes: My kids love all the chocs, lots of stuff ends up in raffles at work and some has been traded via the LETS.
I have had a few keepers though, cook books, cd,chicken egg cups:p and several gift cards. Every year I tell the oldies not to buy me stuff but invariably I end up with lots of chocs etc. I'm sure teachers will be the same.0 -
When i was in mr a yesterday there were pot plants "to my teacher" they were getting descimated i bet the teacher ends up with a few.
Nice to get so many pressies from the oldies they must really appreciate you.Nice to be able to use the ones you don't need too .....a lets scheme that trades baileys is my kind of club!!!*****
