Has everyone seen the information on the changes being done during Thursday's downtime ?
I have subscriptions to ALL the old 'Live on £4K' threads (as well as some other really old threads that have been closed for more than 6 months), and will be losing them in my subscribed threads list
*** toddles off to bookmark them all in my browser instead ***
How do I bookmark them? Will I have to find the threads, from top of this one, and then tick the Favourites on my internet browser page? I am not very technically minded?:rolleyes:When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -

I went into the ones I need to manually 'save' from my 'Subscribed Threads' list.
In Firefox I then select 'Bookmarks' from the menu across the top of my screen, followed by 'bookmark this page' from the drop down menu.
You'll still be able to get to the older 'Live on £4k' ones from the top of this thread, so I guess my biggest issue is others that contain useful information I refer back to, but which aren't part of a 'current' challenge (so aren't referred back to at all in any other - current - threads)Cheryl0 -
Thanks shaz - Aiming to give the cordials a go definately. Tried a juicer and was one of the things I didn't get on with, did the job okay but I didn't use it that much overall and cleaning it was a faff.
I use a wide variety of similar stuff to yourself currently but aiming to simplify a bit along the way with some things.Rices, couscous, pulses, and dried foods will be staples thoughand I am hoping that OH will teach me fishing - strangely it is something I would really like to do :pMy life is just so exciting :rotfl:

SM, I make oatcakes, they're really easy but, surprisingly, ground oatmeal isn't the easiest thing to get about here. That's about all that's in them - if you're frying pork links or bacon, save the fat that comes out of them then that gets mixed with oatmeal, a pinch of bicarb of soda, pinch of salt and some water to bind. Roll it out, cut into teaplate or saucer size circles, quarter mark them and cook them in the frying pan (unless you have a girdle or griddle). I've never tried baking them in the oven. Very fattening, very yummy.
On the subject of fishing, loads of people about here go whelking & cockling but the cost of travelling to the shore necessitates having a car, so neither frugal nor eco-friendly I'm afraid. (Unless you make a day of it and then prepare & freeze everything you catch/collect.)I reserve the right not to spend.
The less I spend, the more I can afford.
Frugal living challenge - living on little in 2025 while frugalling towards retirement.0 -
Nyk - ground oatmeal is just porridge oats blitzed - which you will be able to do in your frugal blender;) so shortly no problem with ground oatmeal supply.:D
There is an angling club in NS I have been looking at for info ,and fishing on the lower 8 miles of the River C down to harbour at your old place, I might make it my new hobby, will have to practice casting though first so I don't look a twit with all the regular fishermen.Wonder if the oldies would think I was strange if I started fishing in the inner grounds lol0 -
Nyk if you have a food processor it is really easy to grind porridge oats. I used to make oat flour a lot in mine.0

DD's wedding went ok though we nearly missed it due to the mini bus driver being late in spite of having the time confirmed the night before and he stopped for petrol .
Anyway they delayed it and the couple after them did not turn up so it was all ok in the end.
The reception was very laid back. We had Lancashire hot pot served with large baskets of rolls and a few other bits of things for lunch then a buffet tea later.
dd had a genius idea for the kids. She bought a load of those paper carrier gift bags and filled them with colouring books and crayons, lego, cars, books and soft toys for each child. They were so good because they were occupied and she did not pay a lot for any of it as she started collecting in the sales last year.
The dj in the evening also did some games with the kids.
I am just glad to see her happy again and hope it stays that way.0 -

I thought maybe they had changed their mind but forgot to cancel.
DD had the formal stuff the first time around so did not want a repeat of that.0
