vender couldn't sell but ups price?

Has the world gone mad? A house near me on south coast was on the market for a year for 325k. I viewed it but it had a postage stamp garden and noisy from traffic(house was good) They took it of the market in July and have just got a call from one of the agents to view it, Price now 355k. Surely the market hasn't shot up that quick and with a house that was struggling before..why oh why?

You did not want to buy it, so what is the issue?
  • They probably read in a paper that prices are rising again, so their house MUST be worth more. That it didn't sell at the lower price is irrelevant, if they think all houses are going up they'll want every penny they can get. They're simply pricing to what they perceive the general market is, however misguided they may be.

If they are not in a rush to sell, then they can keep it on the market for whatever price they like.

Good luck to them - they may get lucky.

They weren't asking enough, so they weren't attracting the discerning buyer that is worthy of this splendid property.

By increasing the price, they'll bring it into the search criteria used by wealthy young professionals, who wil snap it up.

You're just bitter that you're not a discerning buyer who has an eye for the finer things in life.

Tip: Have you checked out 1-bed flats in your area? You might find the neighbours are more your sort of people.
  • lol, thats hilarious, I have no idea why everyone is having a go at you lellow lorry... I thought it was a highly entertaining and more fool them if they are stupid enough to put the PRICE UP!! Very funny.

I guess it is the eternal war between those who are buyers and those who are vendors. Failing to see each others perspective. Odd also that one can at times be both a vendor and buyer and still fail to see the perspective of the opposing party.
  • That is definitely true - I am a ftb and it seems the vendors in our area are holding out for as much as they can get. According to some estate agents things have "gone crazy" and they are so unbelievably busy that flats and houses are just flying out the door.

Yellow Lorry - don't despair, I know what you mean, but having said that if I was selling then I would want as much as I could get too. I guess it depends how desperate they are to sell over how much money they want.
  • I thought I might get some abuse..he he. I thought I would post it as I find it quite amusing. It was a fair price at 325k but at 355k now puts it into the bigger property bracket. Like for like now it is not up to it. Secondly as it was only taken off the market for short while, the majority of house buyers, who do their research will know this.
Think I will add another couple grand selling my car....bound to be someone daft come along:rotfl:
