TFL Fine
Hi, everyone!
In 2006 i got a fine on a bus for not paying - i touched my oyster card but as the bus was busy i didn't realize the machine was not working. I was pregnant at the time and had serious health problems which didn't stop the officer to take my card which i just have topped up with 10 pounds Magistrates. I never got any corespondence from TFL and now i got a letter from the Magistrates Court for £260 or else... There was no explanation of the offence in the letter, so i had to call and ask. They said that i've been contacted at my previous address and my case was given to a bailif company. I am extremely shocked as i stayed at my previous address for long enough time for the TFL to get in touch and they also had my details at the website as i register all my cards. The officer didn't even check if the machine was working. Has anyone been in a familiar position, is there any chance for me to appeal?
I'll be thankfull to everyone for your opinions.
