holiday cottages

Hi
Can anyone please recommend a good site to search for short break holidays in Scotland? We are looking to go away late October/November and have googled cottages, but am finding that they are mostly for 1 week or more holidays. We can only afford/have time for a few days away.
Flexible about where we go, but living in Edinburgh so not too close to home and not too far up north (? roads at that time of year)
Help!
thanks

    Hi

You don't say how many people will be going. I'm not sure whether this will be too far north for you, but it's worth a look if there are only 2 of you:

Clock Tower and Courtyard are both for 2 people, and it looks like both are free at the end of October. You have to book a minimum of 3 nights, but other than that they are completely flexible. The bigger properties are bookable for a minimum of 5 nights during the period you want to go, but I haven't checked availability.

We stopped in Roshven cottage for 10 nights during the summer and loved it. I see that cottage is only available for 1 night so probably isn't suitable for you.
  • thanks, will check it out, but I suspect probably a bit too far. Sorry, I also should have added its for 2 adults and a 6 month old baby
  • ha, have just realised that we camped near Arisaig a couple of years ago. It is beautiful there, with great beaches, but I do remember the road there was a bit of a nightmare!

Just for info, the road to Mallaig has been upgraded and is now 2 lanes all the way. Much better than when I was there a few years ago and it was single track with passing places!

www.ruralretreats.co.uk do stays from as short as two nights. Not cheap, but excellent quality.

    hi
they were upgrading the road when we were heading up that way. It was roadworks all the way from Fort William so it was a bit of a nightmare. Glad it was worthwhile though! Needless to say we didn't bother driving back, we caught the ferry to Skye instead. Love love love Skye!
