Sealy Millionaire Ortho/Sealy Superior Firm Mattress?

Hi
Our old mattress is a Sealy Posturepedic and we've been very happy with it
We're now looking for a new mattress and have tried numerous firm support ones and the one we prefer (so far) is a Sealy Superior Firm one.
I've been doing some searching on the internet and have found the Sealy Millionaire Ortho one, which is more expensive but firmer.
I'm going to see if I can find one of these to try out locally but I wondered if anyone has any comments on either mattress.
I've seen the negative comments about Silentnight Miracoil - which is part of the same group as Sealy.
I'm not sure if the Sealy ones we're considering are of similar construction.
Thanks

Thanks for the reply, Tim.
Is this is product-wide issue or is it a small number of mattresses?
If it's product-wide, do you have any info on what Silentnight and Sealy have done/are doing to rectify this?0 -

It does appear to be mainly a problem with the continuous spring system used in Miracoil, Posturtech and Posturpedic mattresses. Although I have heard reports about low quality and short life throughout the group.
Most manufacturers used to use the continuous spring system, but have stopped due to unreliability and noise problems.
It is unlikely that they will do anything to solve the problem because they make them cheaply, and still addract many customers due to the power of advertising.0 -

I've tried to Google 'silentnight miracoil problems' but it doean't bring anything up.
Do you know of anywhere that these problems are discussed at length by consumers?

I speak to 100's of people who have previously owned them, as well as speaking to manufacturers who used to use the continuous spring system.
The general opinion from people who have bought one in the last 8 years is that they last 12 to 18 months, and that even if they are still within the warranty, they still wouldn't get it exchanged for another.
Manufacturers say that they get so many complaints that they simply got rid of the machines that made the springs, and changed back to open coil and pocket springs.
If you want a high quality mattress for a low price you are better off going for smaller independent manufacturers who still make them by hand, and go by reputation rather than the power of advertising. Many of the big brands have lowered quality to cut production costs.

I don't want a high quality mattress for a low price.
I want a good quality firm/orthopedic mattress at a reasonable price.
If the only way I'm going to achieve that is to buy from a smaller independant manufacturer, do you have any suggestions which company(ies) I should be looking at?

Pollycat, what size mattress are you after??

Unfortunately I'm not allowed to recommend any on MSE as it could be viewed as advertising. All I can say is stay away from the big brands.

I want a kingsize one, good quality.

I appreciate your point about advertising - does this still apply if you pm me?
If not, thanks for the 'heads up' re spring problems.
