Private school fees advice

Options
In a few years time, we're thinking of sending our eldest son to a private school for secondary education. I recently came across this website that promises to help with School Fees and Personal Financial Planning.
http://www.sfia.co.uk/

They claim to be able to do a number of things to help with planning for paying the fees, but the key one is
"SFIA advisers are frequently able to reduce a client's monthly education bill or the overall cost of the fees by 50%."

Does anyone have any experience of this company or what it is they're able to do to achieve a 50% reduction in the fees?

Thanks in advance

Mike

They'll just be offering products along the same lines as any finanicial institution.

As with all investment planning, do your homework and get comparable quotes from alternative companies before committing your money anywhere.

The 50% "reduction" will be through tax free savings schemes and investment planning. It's only going to offer a saving if you were saving the money anyway - as any tax free savings scheme will offer.

They are also probably selling their "50% fee reduction" in comparison to someone who would borrow the money to pay the fees as opposed to saving for them.

Because by then you've blown your chances. That's it."

    Slightly off topic

One piece of advice - if you can afford to get your child into the Private School BEFORE 11 years old then do so. At 7 years old most private schools that have a 'lower school' will accept them - without an entrance exam or at least it will be relatively easy to get in. Then they are GUARANTEED a place at 11 years old - unless of course they are way way below the standard expected but you would have been informed of this way in advance.

HOWEVER at 11 he will have to sit entrance exams - if he does not pass - it does not matter how much money you have he will not be able to get a place full stop.
