PSP charging problem

Hi.
A few weeks ago my PSP just stopped charging.
Removed the battery and plugged in - still no joy running direct off the mains - strange though as the adaptor gets warm...
Anyhow ordered a new battery - still no joy.
Can anyone suggest what may be wrong?
