Actually, I had a pc with this infection on it today....you really need to hit it with combofix to get the last traces off your machine (SAS didn't clear what MBAM left behind :() linky :-

Once youve scanned with SAS then run hijack this

Download HIJACK THIS (Make sure you click 'DOWNLOAD LATEST VERSION')
    http://www.filehippo.com/download_hijackthis/
Click DO A SCAN AND SAVE A LOGFILE (Takes seconds) then post the log so we can see whats running (To determine if you have any anti virus programs running for example)
(do NOT do anything else with Hijack but scan and post the FULL log)

The signs are looking good. I have ran malwarebytes and deleted and restarted machine and no sign of it. I am now currently running superantispyware so will know for sure when its finished.

I have actually just done all this to my own laptop too as didnt think it would do any harm, and it seems to be running a good bit faster as well so happy days.

On the subject of anti-virus and firewall, I actually dont think I have any on either machine now tbh :o I have just had a look and cant see any. Is the firewall windows maybe??

I would install either avira or avast home edition antivirus and PCTool Firewall Plus and Threatfire, which should bolster your security. After you've followed the other suggestions.

I also have Asquared installed on my system, which is slow but fairly good.

TICK these in hijack and cick to FIX them ~

The only security feature I can find (Other than windows defender which is next to useless) is this ~
    C:\Program Files\Hewlett-Packard\HP ProtectTools Security Manager\pthosttr.exe
So attempt to uninstall it then ~

Download AVIRA (Make sure you click 'DOWNLOAD LATEST VERSION')
    http://www.filehippo.com/download_antivir/
This is your new anti virus, unfortunately theres a problem with downloading the updates today so wait until it can update (Right click the 'white umbrella on the red background' in the system tray and select 'start update'. If the bar goes up then it updates - might be a day or 2 yet), then run a complete system scan with it

After installing Avira then run COMBOFIX

Follow the simple instructions it gives
Post the COMPLETE log it creates here (Split into sections if need be)

If it comes up with a RENAMING error then RIGHT click the exe file and RENAME and call it QWERTY (Making the complete file name 'QWERTY.exe') Or SAVE as 'QWERTY' on download

hi alienrik thanks for helping me.

I have deleted the files you told me to in hijack and am now currently installing avira. So I will see how that goes.

Is this my computer protected now after this is installed, or would you recommend having anything else.

I mean I dont really understand all the different programs for firewall, antivirus, malware etc, so if you think i need anything else let me know please.

    many thanks

Ive asked you to run combofix as this will show a deeper logfile than hijack to show us exactly whats running, it will also remove anything nasty it finds

'my web search' is still present on your computer and really needs to be removed. Avira caters more towards trojans etc, 'mywebsearch' is malware which malwarebytes is better for
Avira constantly scans in realtime (But still needs updating to be any good), malwarebytes ONLY scans once its told to
So long as windows firewalls on then you should be ok but if you feel you need more protection then use PC TOOLS FIREWALL as suggested above ~

On speeding up your computer at bootI'd get rid of the entries in bold as none of them need to start when the computer boots up. The ones in blue I would keep and delay their startup with winpatrol and unless you actually use the sidebar (in red) I would get rid of it.

Obviously once you've install Avira and PCTools Firewall you need to keep them starting up on boot.
