The person stated they would claim against me if I don't respond in 7 days, but I am clearly out of time as I rec'd today on 29th, the bank rec'd on 23rd and they will prob get 30th or 1st my letter.
I can't believe the bank gave out your address and your bank details to someone other than you. I would eb a bit miffed if my bank did that to be honest!

I read it as the person claiming had gave the letter to the bank, to forward on to UmpaLumpa. I.E. the bank received the letter on the 23rd (I assume the letter was written and dated the 22nd), which was then received from the bank by UmpaLumpa on 29th (7 days after it was initially written).
  • ... re: this trolling lark....

not down with the forum kids on this one, but kind of gather what it's about.

I just wanted a few opinions from people as to what might happen with this....

like I say, i've set up a repayment plan idea and posted a letter back..

my dad thinks it's a money laundering thing, my mates reckon suspicious after nearly a year i get contacted, my gf says to give it back (which I am doing!) and I wanted to know even if I give it back, there is still some uncertainty in the air as no 'official' intervention with payments, just his word against mine.

I was advised to go to citizens advice and speak with them, which I still might do, save me getting a 'you've not paid me back' claim in the coming months.
  • Sorry but the bank wouldnt give address without a court order ....
    For everthing else there's mastercard.
    For clampers there's Barclaycard.

  • so i'm trolling? Thought this was a place where I could get advise online as it says....

sorry to have bothered your "elite club or perfectness" - but for those who have helped, a genuine thanks. I spoke to the bank today, as BarclaysManager said they can't do anything, so just awaiting the response back from the mistakee in the next coming days.

For those of you who still wish to have an input in helping me/suggestions, it would be appreciated.

I do not really understand how this could have happened.

The point is I have a paypal account and they do verify bank accounts before you can actually use them either for funding your paypal account or withdrawing funds to the bank.

By no means I could withdraw money from my paypal account to someone else's bank account.

If the bloke mistyped the account number it wouldn'd have been verified. Hence, he couldn't have send any money to you.

You can withdraw to an account without it being verified, they just give you some warnings as to fees being charged if you put the wrong details in and it bounces.

I'm so sorry then. I thought the whole verification process was intended both for deposits and withdrawals.
