They had a back to school promotion where you could rebate £145 from an ipod, but this has ended. Do they have promotions and offers often?

this is when brought with a mac.
With student discount and this, it could be a big saving overall

Not very often. The one you quote is students only. There's usually a £60 discount on a printer when bought with a Mac, and the last few years IIRC they've done 0% interest on Macs around Christmas (this isn't available as well as Edu discounts). Can't remember whether this happened last year.0

"Apple" and "sale" aren't really seen in the same sentence very often. The Refurb Store is your best bet for consistently saving money throughout the year.0

They do have promotions on Black Friday (see wikipedia ) though I'm not sure if these always apply in the UK - you could probably check by searching the macrumors.com archives for 'Black Friday'0

Black Friday is the Friday after Thanksgiving here in the US. All the retailers have sales as it's the start of the Christmas shopping season. It's a rather mental experience; last year, a Walmart employee was trampled to death by a mob of customers when the store opened.
Given there's no Thanksgiving in the UK, i'm not sure a Black Friday sale would extend to there.0 -

Surely you've heard me grumble that I live in one of the only five US states without an Apple Store?
I moved here right after they opened the first one in Ireland, 20 minutes from my house.0 -
Doesn't everything start to climb really high in price in the UK at the beginning of christmas (which is like October for the retail sector) and then go back to the normal prices in Jan and they call it a 'Sale'?0

lol…it really is the ugly side of capitalism. Being prepared to stomp over a fellow human being to save money is absolutely nuts. Someone else was shot and killed in a car park over a PS3.
Crazy.Ubuntu is an ancient African word, meaning: 'I can't configure Debian'.0
