Average cost for Annual Boiler Service?

Options
Hi,

I can get a British Gas Homecare100 policy for 13 pounds a month which includes an annual service. Seems good value. Wonder if anyone can let me know what an average combi boiler service would cost?

Thanks

The company I work for charge £56.50 for a combi boiler service or £54 for a back boiler. I went through Npower last year who were offering half price summer services :)
No you're not a vegetarian if you eat any animal or fish, so do not insult genuine veggies by calling yourself one!

Thanks to everyone who posts competitions. You are the stars of the board :T:j:T
  • It depends what you regard as a "service". The British Gas service basically consists of a quick safety check. And I suspect those "services" for around the £50 to £60 mark do much the same.

The guy who does mine completely strips down the boiler, cleans and washes through various parts in the sink, replaces the recommended seals, diaphragms, etc, and tests that the system is operating to the manufacturers specifications. The whole job usually takes him around 2 hours to complete and he charges around £120.

A few years ago a local Corgi plumber charged me £60 for half an hours service.
This year another Corgi plumber charged me £40 (for cash), no certificate. Same sort of job from what I could see.
With the credit crunch I would have thought official prices to drop, but not likely with cartels.

Don't know why they changed the name, years of promotion gone to the wall.

I got mine (combi) done by a local service engineer for about 50 quid. He said the BG one was a waste of money, in his opinion.
