Thanks for the info on this book. I've been thinking about getting the book, so it helps in the decision making process.

Was looking at the new Delia Christmas book in Asda last night - £12.50. Thought about it for a few minutes and then decided that the majority of recipes would never get used.

Instead, I picked up 'BBC GoodFood 101 Christmas Dishes' for £3.50 and then bought my OH a fabulous 'Beatles Memorabilia' book for Christmas (reduced from £25 to £10 :j).

I suppose it depends on how many Christmas Recipe books you've already got in your collection ;). I've only just started getting recipe books together again (left all mine behind when I left the ex-OH years ago and never bothered again till recently). The only other one I have was bought about 30+yrs ago at the supermarket checkout - a little tiny thing.

What I like about this one is that each recipe is on a different page with the illustration facing it. In many books, not every recipe is illustrated (and even if they are, not necessarily next to the actual recipe) - but they are in this one. There's also a useful section at the beginning with temperature and weights conversions.

A few delicious sounding veggie options in there as well, that would perhaps make a good meat-free alternative for when we're feeling over-stuffed :rotfl:.

It was on the shelves by all the other recipe books, but it is only small about 4insx4.5ins so you could easily miss it. It's this one: http://www.bbcshop.com/Food/Good-Food-101-Christmas/invt/9780563539292

Only £2.99 on the website but I think it's £2.45 delivery charge.

My copy of Delia's Happy Christmas has arrived and after a quick glance I think it looks excellent. I particularly like the way there is a whole chapter on vegetarian Christmas options rather than just a token recipe!

Can't wait to get stuck in - it's a bit more traditional than Nigella but I think they're both equally great!
  • There's a website - https://www.deliashappychristmas.co.uk - which gives a price comparison of places that sell this and other Delia Smith books.

Now, there's a book I wouldn't hesitate to recommend;). I've made at least 6 things from it already. I'm in the process of making the sour dough starter and tonight we're having the tupperware Mexican chorizo as meatballs -smells gorgeous.
