Updated iPhone 3G...now internet connection runs so slow

Hi All
Connected my iphone 3G to itunes last night and it said an update was available for itunes (to make it version 9) and version 3.1 for my phone. So..downloaded and installed both.
Been accessing my email and facebook on it today and the icon that consists of circles in a circle which light up in a sequence when it's loading are going very slowly. Facebook wouldn't load new posts or anything and took forever to open a private message.
I've just restored it back to day 1, but the minute it put my backed up data back on, of course it will have put that update on too
What should I do?
The internet connection is normally really quick without me having to turn Wifi on (plus can't access wifi at work)

If your iphone is PAYG, then that is the issue. The default settings are for pay monthly, and PAYG customers have to change settings when they first get the phone to make 3G work - otherwise it's dead slow. When you do a major update, it sets back to default (monthly), so will need changing again- see here0

Probably still worth checking the settings, as it sounds like 3G is not working0
