friend fired, work stats blamed, thats not true

He's been sacked because he stood up to the a*se of a manager and said how you measure the work load is incorrect etc and said very nicely to the manager that he was in the wrong and that the team were working.
The manager ended his motivational speech with "we've got twenty new temps starting next week and can soon make it twentyfive, your not iraplaceable" .
He's just got a call from the agency telling him not to go back in and he was fired. Just wondering if this a*se of a manager can get away with this sort of language to people..... I thought saying that was illegal.
What sort of language? You've said that your pal has told the manager that they were doing their job wrong [essentially] and that they don't know how to manage.....and in return have been told they are not irreplaceable. It looks to me that your pal was being a bit of an ar.se to their manager....0 -

tizhimi there is little that your friend can do in this case, agency workers have few rights bar the statutory laws which cover us all which makes them amongst the most vulnerable workers in society, and victims to the idiots like Anilhator who put that horrid post on your query.
What a splendid idea - ever considered it?0 -

It was the other way round, they got a b*llocking for not working hard enough - the manager said he hasn't got a clue what work that group were doing so my mate explained that it wasn't quantifiable in the way in which it was being valid. I know because I was there.
example- piece of work takes 5 mins on work manager
- work actually takes 20mins to complete due to managers trying to "encourage" a higher work load by cutting down the time scale.
- computer says you've only done 5 mins work when you've done 20mins. My mate explained this was wrong.
Anyway, I've resigned to the fact that this a*rse of a manager can get away with saying what ever he likes, I'll just pour a pint on his head if I see him out and about. no doubt someone is going to start ripping me to shreads as normal so feel free for the barriage of comments to begin.I run an event management company, I put on events, I go to events, if I don't know anything about events - its not worth knowing!:j:j:jNegotiate, Negotiate, and Negotiate again.:j:j:j0 -

This post is the opposite of your original post; you say it was the other way around when it was your original post I was quoting....are you a little confused?
It sounds like your pal should have just done what they were asked to do....nobody likes a smart ar.se esp when they turn round and tell the manager that they can't manage.....being a temp makes it just easier to say au revoir...0 -
no I'm not confused as I was there. the order of events are irrelvant anyway as it was more the fact of what the manager said - before any member of staff said anything.
it went..... your carp you carp your carp etccc.....
we can replace you motivational speech etc....
my mate said etc....
manager said I don't actually know what work you're doing etc and I just read the stats...
so please continue to be fascious and blame the temp for being the lowest of the low and standing up for himself after being spoken to like that.
addtional info - no one could do what was asked of them as it was phsyically impossible to reach those targets.I run an event management company, I put on events, I go to events, if I don't know anything about events - its not worth knowing!:j:j:jNegotiate, Negotiate, and Negotiate again.:j:j:j0 -
If it is physically impossible to reach the targets then presumably no work gets finished and no staff ever last more than a day?
Actually thats not far from the truth funnily enough! They had twenty people start on monday and six have been fired and three have quit.I run an event management company, I put on events, I go to events, if I don't know anything about events - its not worth knowing!:j:j:jNegotiate, Negotiate, and Negotiate again.:j:j:j0
