Don't know if anyone can help but Printer Problem

Yesterday my printer was working ok, today when I try to print I get a message saying that there is no printer installed. I have tried to reinstall the printer by reinstalling the disk but the install fails. Also if I go to install the printer by clicking on 'new printer' in 'my computer' then it says 'the print spoiler server is not running'. It is a Canon i450 printer.
Any help is much appreciated.

http://members.shaw.ca/bsanders/CleanPrinterDrivers.htmIf the Print Spooler service is not operational, or you want to make certain there are no printer driver remnants, either follow the instructions below or use cleanspl.exe from the Windows 2000, XP or 2003 Resource Kit (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=9d467a69-57ff-4ae7-96ee-b18c4790cffd&DisplayLang=en). cleanspl.exe from the Windows 2003 Resource Kit tools will work on Windows XP.Ex forum ambassador

Thanks for this. I have downloaded the last link and the file is on my desktop but any ideas on how I get it to work? If I double click the icon then it reinstalls this again, and it is still saying that the printer spoil is not running.

Control Panel - Admin Tools - Services. Make sure Print Spooler is showing as Started. If not, right-click it and click Start.0

I had problems with my Canon printer last week, and against my principles I phoned the Canon Help Line - 08705 143 723. If you call through 1899.com then it is 7p per minute. You do end up speaking with someone in Bucharest but they are incredibly helpful and knowledgeable, and will be very patient whilst you get the problem resolved. My call took about 20 minutes (had to reboot a couple of times) but well worth it all the same.Don't lie, thieve, cheat or steal. The Government do not like the competition.
