Hello everyone, as you can probably see im very new to the forum. My question is: - Me and my girlfriend have seen a house we both like and are just about to pay up the £200 admin and credit check fees asked by the agent, but im a bit worried about my credit score. I have no ccj's, no defaults and i am on the electoral roll, but i have numerous late credit card payments and also an Agreement to Pay with a catalogue company which i had a dispute with. Do you think is should be okay?

  • Totally depends on the individual decision of the landlord/agent/checking company. There is no general threshold. Your wage relative to your rental payments is as important if not more so than minor credit delinquencies.

    If I was to guess, I would say it would be ok, but I think you should be open about your worries and they might be able to guide you on likelihood of success. You can always offer rent up front as well.
  • Thanks for your reply. Ive just worked it out and the rent is just under 24% of our monthly wage. You think that could be ok?

  • That's probably totally fine on the wage front, but again, don't fall into the mistake this is anything other than one landlord's arbitrary decision. It always is, there is no unified credit scoring system.

    you are consistently late paying yur credit card bills ........ being a landlord myself i would then assume you would be consistently late with your rent.

    only fair if you get turned down.
