Just to point out that the original post asking about putting a crock-pot in the oven was posted 5-and-a-half years ago.

New question re condensation in post #10.

I bought a crock pot in early January and have cooked a few casseroles in it, the first being bland, but they have improved each time. My problem is that under the plastic handle area in the glass lid, condensation builds up and takes days to disappear. I didn't think this was a very healthy thing to happen, I worry about bacteria building up in there. I phoned the customer care line for crock pot to ask if there was anything I could do about it and was told that they'd never had this complaint before, which I find hard to believe. I asked if I should loosen the screw on the underside of the lid, but they said not to, however they gave me no other advice. Has anyone on here ever had this problem? The lid is glass, with a round plastic insert in the middle, the handle on top and a flat area of plastic on the underside, if I'm explaining that properly, and it's on that flat area on the underside that gets condensation build up.

Mine does that too, but it doesn't cause any problems - I'd have thought the heat generated would kill off any bacteria (i assume this is what you're worried about.)

And the food you're cooking doesn't touch the underside of the lid in any case.

I really don't think you need to worry - we've been using ours regularly for five or six years and are still here :)

Thanks, ivyleaf, yes it was the worry about bacteria that was bothering me. If you've been using it with a similar issue for so long, then obviously it hasn't done any harm, and you've put my mind at rest! I still think it's odd and a bit unbelieveable that the makers haven't had this query before, I can't be the only customer to have queried this. I guess they're not too concerned about it. Thanks again, you're a star!
