How long for a replacement bank card?

Hi angle
I agrre that most banks/ building societies seem to quote 7-10 days to get a replacement card but the cards usually arrive much quicker. they over estimate so that they can be pretty sure you will have the card within the timescale quoted. They may usually arrive in 5 days but if they said 5 customers would be calling from day 6 to chase the replacement. Some cards are delivered by post and some by couriers and once the card has left the bank they are at the mercey of the post office/ courier.
I know it doesn't help at the moment but I also think it's a good idea to have a second account just incase a problem like this happens again. Not all banks are using the faster payments yet so I'd suggest a second account with Abbey even if you're not over impressed with them at the moment. It could be a current account if you want to be credit checked or a savings account with cashcard (if they do one). The account doesn't need to keep money in it but is there is a problem with a card your hubby would be able to go online, transfer funds from his current account to the second account and then make cash withdrawals. That's got to be easier than making withdrawals over the counter.
Hope the card arrives quickly.0
