Advent and Ei-System have announced a voluntary recall

Options
"Advent and Ei-System have announced a voluntary recall and replacement program for batteries used in certain Advent and Ei-System notebook PCs. Customers with a battery affected by this program will be eligible to receive a free replacement battery for each recalled battery.

We believe that certain batteries shipped in some of our notebooks may pose a potential safety hazard to customers. The batteries can overheat, posing a fire and burn hazard.

We are taking this action as part of our commitment to provide the highest quality of service to our notebook customers. You should have received a letter in the post with a unique customer number. In order to check whether your PC is affected by this battery recall, please have your letter, with the unique customer number, and your notebook at hand for the coming steps. If you are not the original owner of the notebook or have bought the notebook second hand please call this number 0800 0778019.

If you have sold, given your notebook away or otherwise disposed of your notebook, we ask you to forward your letter to the relevant person. We also ask you to complete the “I no longer have my product” section below, which will inform us that your product is not in your possession and we do not need to contact you again.

First of all you will need to make a note of your notebook serial number. To do this you will need to turn off your notebook and remove the battery. Picture are shown on the next page to help find your serial number, record the number and then connect your laptop to the mains power supply – do not re-insert the battery until you have verified whether your battery is affected by this issue."
