We accepted an offer 24th August, we then had to chase for a date for the survey, 2 weeks has gone by after that (I am asuming it happenend as the house is empty, so we weren't there at the time) and still no word from solicitor or EA,
Today I ring our solicitor who says since sending out the contract in August he has heard nothing from the buyers solicitor.
The EA basically fobbed me off saying there were queries that were being dealt with "as we speak" but couldn't say what those queries were and than gave me a number of someone "that chases sales along" this number always goes to answerphone.
Also there is damage cropping up - a handle broken off a door, the loft hatch has been broken, the garage door was left open - these although small are starting to annoy me as i feel the property isn't being given the respect it would have if it was occupied.
Am I being paranoid or does something seem off?

Something does not sound right. Is the property being used for something behind your back with the EA's connivance?Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0

I shouldn't think so -the neighbours have our phone number and are brilliant at getting in touch when something isn't right - I'm just annoyed that things are getting damaged and that the EA wasn't very forthcoming - the "the buyers have raised questions which are being sorted as we speak" sounds like B/S to me as surely our solicitor would know something about it?0

I would tell the EA to get his finger out and give you full and up to date info on all that he knows. After all it is you that are paying his wages.0

If your buyer needs a mortgage and no survey has taken place then this is wrong. If you aren't living there then it is possible that it has happened without your knowing if the EA has the keys.
If no survey has taken place for the mortgage then I would instruct your EA to find out exactly what is happening and to put the house back on the market if the answer isn't good enough.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

Tell him he has 24 hours to get things moving, or you withdraw the house from sale due to his incompetence. I'd also demand to know what the questions were that the buyer raised. He wants his commision, so he should do the work.0

How would things be getting damaged? Who has been at the property? Should have been just the surveyor and he/she is unlikely to damage stuff I'd have thought. Get your EA to tell you exactly who has been in the property.
And yes definitely insist the EA tells you more details re the buyer's questions/hold up with the process. He is working for you after all and it should be him chasing.0 -
Why isn't the EA telling you all the facts?
They sound totally incompetent.0 -
Well I went into the EA's office to find out what was going on - turns out the guy I usually deal with has been on holiday and came back today to shedloads of aggro - told him everything that had previously happened today - he then got on the phone to the buyer, who didn't have questions at all - survey was fine, mortgage offer in place, but her buyer had pulled out, she has got a new buyer - but it put her back a couple of weeks.
So instead of telling me the truth I was fobbed off as he had no idea what was going on.
Still the other is back now and he's great to deal with0
