Hi,
My car is making the strangest noise (and has been for quite a while). I finally got someone to look at it and i t needs the passenger drive shaft replacing and the timing belt replacing (no idea what a drive shaft is but I don't think the timing belt has been replaced in 93000 miles of ownership).
Does anybody have any idea how much this will costs and if it will just be cheaper to buy a new old banger car as I really can't afford to pay loads for repairs.

Thanks for any answers!

drive shaft could be done for 100 depending on where you go
The timing belt is very important and is a service item, not an item you replace when it goes!0 -
driveshaft apx £60,cambelt kit apx£30,water pump apx £30
apx 4 hrs labour £140 could be a lot less if you have a friendly mechanic
total £260 ish
I mention the water pump as it is worthwhile doing especially as the belt is being changed

get the timing belt done asap.. if theres no proof of it being done then yuo cant risk it.. it can !!!!!! up the engine if it snaps..
the driveshaft is what connects the wheel of the car to the gear box!
