How to Package a Vinyl LP?

I have sold a couple of my vinyl lps and am a bit worried about them getting broken in the post. I can get hold of cardboard and have bubble wrap to put round them but Im still worried they will be bent in transit. I can write "fragile, do not bend" on the package but I know from experience this gets ignored by the Royal Mail! Anyone got any tips?

If you are going to start selling vinyl records on a regular basis, then I suggest you buy a quantity of Mailer envelopes and maybe stiffeners. You can get them in various quantities off ebay. I usually buy boxes of 100 (as i sell quite a few to various buyers worldwide) from an ebay seller and I collect them to save on postage (we have become quite good friends now!).

If you are only going to sell half a dozen, then try https://www.htfr.co.uk You can usually buy in packs of 4.

My DD has purchased vinyl from ebay in the past. I think more important that bubblewrap is stiffening - you don't want anyone to be able to bend that package. Her's came with multiple layers of very rigid cardboard - Mr Universe couldn't have bent that package! You might consider asking your purchaser how their local postman deals with items that are too large to go through a letter box (which this will be).

Further to my previous thread, if you are going to be selling vinyl in the long term and going to use Mailer Envelopes and Royal Mail, take into account that due to the size (not the weight) of these, the cost of postage will be going up in August this year thanks to RM forthcoming rules and regulations regarding weight/size/volume etc.. Not sure how much but the lovely lady in my local post office told me this week.

Thanks for your replies. These are one off sales - I wont be selling any more Lp's as Im just getting rid of some I will never listen to again. Ive packaged them up with very stiff cardboard and lots of bubble wrap but Im going to be nervous now until I hear they have all arrived safely.
