I've had my renewal from B&B through for buildings and contents and the quote was £373:eek:
Ok, bit of history, last year I paid £270 and this year I had reason to register a potential loss in December but didn't eventually claim as I got a repair done under a warranty instead. I also had my fist claim for years for a laptop that my daughter spilt a drink over (£500) so was expecting an increase tbh.
I phoned back yesterday to get them to remove the first 'claim' as I had not actually claimed and didn't want this on the database for when I got quotes from other companies. They said they couldn't remove it but it counts as a loss and not a claim. When I said I was going to get alternative quotes the guy advised that instead of going for a fixed rebuild cost (currently £265k), they were also offering cover on an 'up to £400k' basis and this often works out cheaper. They also removed a bike from the valuable items list that I had last year as the value is now under £350 and the new adjusted premium worked out at £237:T
Sorry for rambling but if you are with B&B and get a renewal through, it would be worth asking them to calculate the premium on the ''up to £400k' basis as this was apparantly what accounted for the majority of the £136 saving. For info, the best price I could find on all the comparison sites was £273 from Budget.
