I received a letter from warrington council saying i had received a PCN and because i havent replied within 14 days they have now doubled the cost of the original ticket.

Can you help me? what proof can I give for not receiving a PCN on my car / what do I reply??

And do the Wardens need to prove they put it on if I disagree?

I am going to send off standard letter tomorrow but would like some ideas if anyone knows.

Cheers
leo

  • This sounds like a pretty standard appeal so be prepared for an automatic rejection of your appeal and then make a formal appeal etc, guides on the main site will tell you how to do that.

Most council traffic wardens do now take a photograph of your car once they have put the ticket on it, so it's worth asking them to provide evidence that a ticket was applied, but it remains a reasonable defence if you say that the reason you didn't pay within 14 days was because you had no idea you had got a PCN (ie someone could have removed the ticket etc).

I'm assuming that you were parked illegally, if so, make it clear in your appeal that your not trying to get out of the ticket, just that you want the opportunity to appeal the full fine and will pay the reduced fine immediately if they give you the chance to do so.

If you were not parked illegally, then again, the main site will tell you the best ways to defend that and the other posts on the forum will give you an idea of how some others have managed to get out of their tickets.

    Good luck!

But the OP is saying he/she never received a PCN I think.

OP is the letter a PCN or a Notice to Owner?
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Or a Regulation 10 PCN which serves as both a PCN and an NTO ?

its worth trying anything- and being as much dishonest as you can with them.
i found a ticket on my motorbike windscreen in chelsea. kensington and chelsea are the only ones providing ''resident bike parkings only'' so i didnt see the sign.. the sign was on the tarmac written but i called them and told them about this.. when they said you need to look around for signs better i hung up and wrote a letter to them that i found just the yellow sticker on it and dont know if thats a joke by my friends or true fine.. my registration is this and that..

they replied that the fine is true and then i replied but i havent found any... 4 months later and lots of ping pong emails , they gave up
