Really sorry to hear about this, it must be a worrying time for you.
Check out the main site for help that the Government has said mortgage lenders should offer people when they have been made redundant, they should give you some assistance like payment breaks or stopping the interest for a period while you look for something else.
You may also be entitled to housing benefit, though that's unlikely to cover your entire mortgage.
Above all else, find out what your rights are BEFORE you speak to your mortgage lender, if they know that you know what they can and can't do, they will tred much more carefully.

Hi, my husband has just been in the same situation - if you are on income based jobseekers allowance you can claim mortgage interest relief payments. You need to request a claim form from your benefit delivery centre. However, this is not paid for the first 3 months of your claim so you will need to speak to your lender and try and set up an arrangement to pay 'something' each month yourself - even just £100 - until you your claim starts. This will pay towards the 'interest' part of your mortgage and your lender may agree for you to change to 'interest only' until you get work again - this will bring down your payments and mean you can claim on the whole amount (tho your benefit payment may well not cover the whole amount - but some is better than nothing). Get the claim form in asap by signed for delivery and if you dont get a quick response, do what we did - email your local MP - she contacted them and they paid out quicksmart afterwards. Good luck!!0
