    Hello frankie1star

I'll move your thread to the 'Greenfingered' board.

Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: I’ve asked Board Guides to move threads if they’ll receive a better response elsewhere(please see this rule) so this post/thread has been moved to another board, where it should get more replies. • will that get as much coverage?
  • Olive trees can be very expensive as they take a long time to mature. Prices vary a lot according to age and size. You can literally play thousands for an olive tree.

I think the cheapest I have seen a young olive tree sell for is around the £12-£15 mark. Expect to pay about £40 for a decent 6ft standard olive tree.

For the best prices, I would recommend visiting your nearest decent sized garden centre or Homebase / B&Q, sometimes olive trees are reduced at this time of year.

    This isn't a bad price: http://www.gardeningexpress.co.uk/ProductDetails.asp?ProductID=1901

This site seems pretty good too: http://www.bigplantnursery.co.uk/olives.html

    Otherwise I'd use Ebay.
  • seem like good places to start, thank you
  • I have been looking for some, I found Marks and Spencer sell them, single or a pair....

I assume you [OP] are aware you cannot just pick olives from a tree & eat them?

    They need processing before edible

No doubt Google will supply details

I saw some at my local garden centre, which were not trees, just small bushes, for about £7.50.

It made me smile, because 3 years ago I bought some Olea europea seeds from Nicky's Seeds for £1.50 and I now have four somewhat larger plants being trained in different shapes.:D

I wouldn't say they were easy to germinate and grow on, but they are no bother now. That's definitely the cheapest method, though the price has gone up.....to £1.75.
  • Bought one from Wilkinsons two years ago, £2.99 - 6", now it is about 6', very pleased...
