The AA - how to be a 'new' customer
To keep it brief...
I've got my AA breakdown renewal notice through but it's considerably cheaper to purchase the same cover online as a 'new' customer (especially given the £50 cashback from Quidco).
So...is there anything to stop me cancelling my renewal and buying as a 'new' customer online? Would I have to leave a gap in cover and if so how long? Might be willing to do a day or two but not much longer.
Many thanks.

tell them you are not renewing, open a new policy with them, i do this most years with car insurance0

Yes I've done this with insurance myself. Just wasn't sure if there were any conditions in the AA offer for 'new' customers. Can't see any on their website.0

try it, the worse they can do is decline it, if they do take your business to somewhere that treats existing customers better0

Good point!
When I renewed last year I got them to match the new customer price over the phone (so missed out on Quidco cashback :-( ) and they said they would soon be offering 'new' customer prices to existing customers automatically. Looks like they were being economical with the truth.0 -
Just realised - when you take out new cover it doesn't ask you when you want the cover to start. So I guess it just starts straight away so I need to take out the new policy on the day the old one expires??
Anyone got any experience of doing this? Thanks.0
