Unfair redundancy?

I was recently made redundant(24-8-09)through a redundancy selection criteria. The manager scored each employee with evidence and backup required. At the time I questioned the results but later decided not to contest them.I have recieved my redundancy, but feel unfairly treated as my employers evidence and backup reasons are either untrue in some areas or mitigating circumstances in others.I am unsure as to the validity of my claim for unfair redundancy?Any advice and help would be greatly appreciated.

Sorry to hear about your problem.
Redundancy is just another form of your employer dismissing you, so if their reasons for doing that are inacurate, you may have a case for unfair or unlawful dismissal. If you are a member of a union, speak to them about access to free legal advise (most unions offer this to their members), if you're not a member of a union, then get in touch with citizens advice and make an appointment to see their legal adviser. Also check your home / motor insurance policies, many offer free legal advise services which are often available for any type of advice not just those issues specific to insurance.
Failing all of that, just contact an employment law solicitor and make an appointment to see someone. your first consutation should be free and the solicitor will tell you where you stand.
I think that you have 3 months to pursue a claim from the date of dismissal, but be aware that if you win your case, you may have to pay back any redundancy settlement you got if it is more than the compensation awarded by the tribunal.0 -
Thank you for your response.
I think the problem I have is the size of my redundancy was so high because I worked there for 13 years. Most solicitors I have talked to won't take on my case no win no fee as it is not financialy viable for them.
Although the settlement was large, due to my drop in wages(I have had to take a min wage job for the moment)within a few months I will have no benefit from the payout,in fact I will lose out long term.
I will book an appointment with citizens advice as you suggested and see what my options are.
Cheers,
