Moving in new flat please help in selecting supplier

Options
Hello All Moneysavers

I am moving in a new flat in Rainham and currently the supplier is : E-on for both ( gas and electricity). The landlord who was living there few months back was paying a fixed amount of £86 every month for both gas and electricity(that's what he has told me..he can't remember the package name from e-on)

I am planning to live there for 1 years approx

I have tried looking into mse website also on british gas and e-on website but for it it is information overdose... can't understand what's for what .. sorry for that.

Please suggest:

A) should i change supplier ?
B) If yes, then to whome ?
C) how to maximise cashback of profit .. .

Thanks a lot for reading this thread and Thanks in advance for replying :)

Thanks
Deep

  • I may have this wrong as I don't know if this applies to rentals (I've only dealt with buying property) but I believe you'll be on a deemed contract with the current supplier when you move in, you can choose the tariff but you can't choose the company. Once you've set up an account with them you can then switch.

I'd suggest staying with them and working out your usage before you think about switching. You can't really make an informed decision about who will be the cheapest for you until you know what you're using.

Yes, you'll need to set up an account with whoever provides the gas/electricity at the moment. Then you might want to wait to see what you use per month, then put this into a comparison site, then see what the best cashback is based on who is the cheapest.

The house I just moved in to was with npower (who seem absolutely awful) and I've just switched to scottish power as they are far cheaper and £90 cashback.
  • THanks for suggestions gemstars and williham .. I hope to sort these issue in next few days.
