For those of you who actually do steal to get out of debt - thank you, it keeps me in a job!!
Seriously - it's not worth it, I've had to deal with several people that steal to pay off debt, no matter how good your sob story is, you'll still end up with a criminal record which has a drastic affect on you in the long run!
For those of you who are really feeling hard times - have you checked to see if your company has access to sany schemes that may help? Our company offers counselling and free legal advice to anyone in a debt situation.Treat others as you would like to be treated :A0 -

Ok confession time. A couple of weeks ago I went into Staples to buy jiffy bags and the cashier only charged me for one pack. I almost said something and then i thought, who needs the £2.99 more, you or Staples. So I didnt say anything and didnt feel guilty about it either on the way home, just felt £2.99 better off.The forest would be very silent if no birds sang except for the birds that sang the best0

This thread has made me remember that I did two days of agency work while on Job seekers allowance and wondered if I shouldn't declare it as I'm sure many people do not. It must have been the determination to clear debt that made me think it as anything like this would never normally even enter my head!
However I did ONLY think it and declared what I'd earnt.0 -

Last year i did consider something quite drastic which was not illegal but would have had severe consequences.
All the debt is in my OH's name and we are not married, at my lowest point last year, when i was deeply depressed and everything looked black, i did consider splitting up with him. At the time i thought he could go and take his debt and deal with it. Whilst i could keep my roof and sanity.
But i couldn't go through with it, after all the debt is OUR debt, i spent as much as he did, plus we have 3 children together and it would have turned their world upside down and finally i love him dearly.
I was just so depressed it was the only solution i could see, thankfully, that time is over with and i was strong enough to not go down that road, and now i have found here i know there are plenty of other ways.
I suppose when you are desparate it is easy to let things get out of hand. But as everyone else is said there are always better ways and safer ways to deal with debt.Success means having to worry about every thing in the world......EXCEPT MONEY. Johnny Cash
