credit card newbie

I thought I was never gonna be in debt! I'm sorting stuff out now and feel that i shall be (ross fingers!) debt free by the new year. I have dumped my barclaycard and my HSBC credit cards with their 18% interest rates and took the advice of many, and hooked up with egg and virgin for now anyways. I have one remaining payment with amazon and I shall say goodbye to that card two months before the 0% rate goes bye bye too. Yippee for this site and a thanks to all those brave enough to let me read what happened and happening to them.

    welcome to MSE.
have a look at using the next two months of 0% on Amazon to your advantage.Prehaps you can move a small amount of debt to it .
Watch out for fees and charges though.
Before you close any credit card account ALWAYS phone them and ask for a 0% extention for as many months as you can squeeze out of them.if they say no! Close the account and you have lost nothing.
If they say yes use it to your advanyage.
    Good Luck.
