London Show on Wed 14th Oct?

We are going to London for a couple of days and the main thing we want to do is see a show and shop. Is there any website which shows what is on that night and the various prices?
We might be able to go again on the Thursday if we got a really good deal. Can you get unsold tickets on the day anywhere?

you can get on the day tickets from the TKTS booth in leicester square (run by the society of london theatre) have a look at www.officiallondontheatre.com/tkts for more info.

as for what shows are on, have a look at www.whatsonstage.com, www.officiallondontheatre.com, and www.broadwaybox.com. or www.visitlondon.com (you can select the dates and will show you what you can do on that date)

  • www.theatremonkey.com - in my experience by far the most comprehensive guide with theatregoers reviews, best seats to choose and 99% of special offers (look on left for links)
  • Or try lastminute.com; some good seat deals and you can put in a specific date to search for.

Be very careful with Lastminute.com; it is a useful resource if you can't go anywhere else but they lie on their website by saying that the theatre will allocate the best seats available at the time of booking. This is not strictly true. Apparently the theatre will allocate the best seats available within Lastminute's allocation. What this means in practise is that you might have a fairly rubbish seat at the very end of the back row and can see much better, empty, seats in front of you. I have been burned three times like this so will not book with Lastminute again, I would rather go somewhere where they can tell me exactly where I will be sitting so that I have the opportunity to accept or decline the seat. Paid £96 for 2 Priscilla tickets recently and was most unhappy with the seats (sob sob).
  • Whats on stage ...check their website

They have some good deals, espec. midweek
all direct bookings too, no last minute unallocation

they dont do that in the theatre I work in. lastminute.com should state, and let you select the price range, so if youre getting face value top price seats, they arent going to giv you rubbish seats!

My advice - go to the venue. Its quiet season at the moment, and most do day discounts, whether it be special day seats, student discount, oaps, etc etc if youre really nice to them and ask them politely they're likely to give you a student discount.
So many people are rude to us and wonder why we wont help them!
Especially on a Weds, you'll have no problem, and you'll know exactly where yo're sitting, that you arent being ripped off, and theyll answer all your questions.
Plus, if any double bookings happen, being the person who bought from the 'house' youll be the one getting to stay put! :)
