Gas and Electricity Confusion Marketing. HELP!

I am absolutely appalled by the confusion surrounding getting the best information to make an intelligent decision to find the best deal for my utilities. Even when I phoned my two suppliers the respondents admitted that the whole thing was confusing even to them and they were'nt really sure whether thay had given me the best advice. How on earth do the elderly and those who don't have access to the web manage to get the best deal for themselves.

There was the Plain English Campaign which was started in 1979 to fight for crystal-clear communication and a Crystal Mark was given to approved members. Surely there should be something similar for the Utility companies. There are just too many schemes and options to make a clear choice.

Please, would an MP or someone with clout (Martin) start to do something about this? There are votes, kudos and kisses waiting for a peoples champion.
