Further to my thread yesterday, I'll make this as short as I can. I sent a UCAS application for 2010 entry on 8th September to do Psychology. Realised I want to study Computing, then do a PGCE and become a teacher.
I'm on a gap year now and working as a learning support assistant at a secondary school. My job should be secure for as long as I want it.
I want to go to the local University, so I can keep my job part-time and do a degree. I didn't apply to this university this year.
UCAS say they wont change my university unless my reference writes a letter with a very good reason (I'm doing this tomorrow).
If they say no, do I do computing at another University far away (Emailed unis to change course) and quit my job, or do I take a second gap year, keeping my job and then apply to the local university?
I'd be another year older (I'd be starting the course at 20 years old, I'm 18 now), however I'd get to keep my job part-time, or do I go next year when I'll be 19 and go to a new area, quitting my job.
Advice is appreciated.

I think that if, after a year out of education, you can change your mind between subjects as different as Psychology and Computing, you are perhaps not yet ready to make this sort of decision.
What very good reason are you asking your reference to give for this sudden change of heart?0 -

There isn't a great reason really. She's just told the truth. That we have discussed my options and feel that I have made a mistake applying for Psychology.
It's a rubbish excuse, I'm a fool and it may cost me another year out! All I can do is try.0 -

Look on the bright side - if you end up working for 3 years you'll be considered an independent student and not assessed on your parents' income! Full grants and loans will be yours for the asking!0 -

On the down side, I'll be old...er then most.
I've got a letter from myself and my reference ready to post tomorrow. I'll keep you updated.0
