PPI Claim Clydesdale 4th letter?

1st Letter-Acknowledged complaint and sent survey.

2nd letter-After 4 weeks received a letter stating the claim was taking longer than anticipating and that they would be in touch within 4 weeks.

3rd- Now after 8 weeks since starting of claim I get a letter stating this:

Regrettably we are not yet in a position to issue our decision. We are currently experiencing delays. We aim to issue our response to you within the next 4 weeks or we will provide you with a further update.
I appreciated you may be unhappy with the progress. If you wish you may refer your complaint to the Financial Ombudsman Service. They then proceed to give me the FOS address and enclose a leaflet.

Whats this all about? They didn't even give me the opportunity to threaten going to the FOS. What do I do next?

It basically means their 8 weeks are up (within which they should complete a complaint and give a final response) so its now up to you if you wait or go to the FOS. They have to give you this option as this is within the guidelines of complaints handlings.
  • Any suggestions on what to do? Is it better to just wait or contact FOS?

Your decision of course but I personally would go to the FOS now. You do (unless they offer goodwill in the meantime) have a long wait though with FOS but sometimes it shifts their butts anyway.
  • I am assuming if I write a letter to FOS I send a copy to clydesdale bank is that correct? Is there a template here I should use? Any help is greatly appreciated

    Hi there

If you decide to go to the FOS, you can either download and print from their website, or ring them to arrange to send you one through the post, I would also try to keep a photocopy, after completion for yourself, and of course if you want to let the bank know you are going this direction with the FOS, you can send them a copy as well if you want to.

Remember with the FOS forms to enclose copies of correspondence and any copies of evidence you have to support your case, good luck.;)
