Double Din Car Entertainment with GPS

Evening all,

Im currently considering buying a Hyundai i10 (see previous post), however I would want a gps entertainment unit built into the dash with bluetooth. I have seen a few pioneers however price is a key factor for me here, so any model specific suggestions would be appreciated.

Key features im looking for:
* FM Radio
* CD Player
* Aux In/iPod connection
* GPS with TMC
* Hands Free Bluetooth with audio through car speakers
* Touch Screen with possibility of steering wheel audio controls

Im also interested in the possibility of voice recognition for audio/gps controls, however on the models I've seen this hikes the price up a lot so isn't crucial.

Thanks in advance,
Simon

  • one thing i can suggest is finding a facia adaptor plate that will accept a single DIN stereo and will fit your dashboard.
    then find a nice stereo you like in single DIN size with ipod connectivity or aux input.
    then buy a parrot bluetooth system,this can be connected up to the stereo so all calls can be made via the car stereo speakers (i think they do one with voice control,i have voice control in my van and never use it,it doesnt work too well,more of a gimmick i say). then buy an independant sat nav system with the traffic if you prefer,but again i wouldnt bother with this.

    all in, it should cost around £70-£100 for the parrot, no more than £120 for your stereo and you can get half decent satnavs for under £150. then the instalation of your stuff shouldnt cost more than a few hours for a decent auto electrician.

    last time i looked at the pioneer one you might be talking about it was 4 figures if i remember correctly.
    ...work permit granted!
  • Thanks for your reply. I have considered this option however preferably would like the entire unit built into one. There are a few pioneers for the £500 mark but I was wondering if there were any alternatives. Pioneer can't be the only manufacturer involved in this market surely!

    I was looking in to something similar for the wifes car, and found a few unpronoucable chinese brands with the above plus dvd playbacketc for under £500 (UK companies). Wouldn't buy from ebay / hong kong though. Just having a look now to see if I can find the ones I was looking at.

    Kenwood sell a double DIN GPS/DVD entertainment unit.

    My best advice would be to buy a copy of Max Power :eek:. Then look at the adverts for the car stereo suppliers in the back and buy something less than current for the best price/value.

    Try here http://www.caraudiocentre.co.uk/category_m-double-din-screen_c-1704.htm

    I replaced a crappy single din and facia plate on my Subaru, with a double Din Kenwood, and I wouldnt want to go back now.
  • DKLS, which kenwood model did you choose to go for? What was it that made you decide to go with that model?

    Thanks for everyones response so far, there seem to be quite a few avaliable. If anyone themselves has one and would like to share which one and why they chose it, that would be great!

    Thanks again.
